It's hard to believe my baby has turned 4! Not sure if I'm happy or sad about this. She is starting to get a little bored at home and is always very happy when I tell her we're going out or having company over.
Because Jenna's birthday was on a Sunday, we did most of the celebrating on Friday and Saturday. The kids Christmas program was on Friday morning so Jenna and I went together to watch Nathan and Mary Beth (although we couldn't really see them from where we were sitting :() . It almost was a snow day with the amount of snow we had received over night but the call wasn't made. It would have been the one day all year that the kids would not want a snow day... they were so pumped for the program and then of course, their class parties afterwards.
Once the program was over, Jenna and I raced home to await our guest, Ava and Henry.
Decorating gingerbread men was a hit with them all, esp. handsome Henry :)
Nathan and Mary Beth came home early from school (1:30) and we spent the afternoon tidying the house for our after supper company, grandma & grandpa and the rest of the Naves family.
I think it was the year of the Beanie Boo... Jenna received 3 for her birthday and ended up with another 3 for Christmas.
Sunday morning Jenna opened her gifts from her family, an outfit for her doll and a Calico Critter house, along with a cat family to live in it :) It was a huge hit with her and her siblings!
On New Year's Day Jenna's friend Keira (and her sister Mia) came over after church to continue the celebration, along with an early celebration of Mary Beth's birthday. Nathan went to their house to play with their brothers, Gabe & Asher. So fun to have friends with kids all around the same age... everyone gets someone to play with :)
Jenna adores her big sister and wants to play with her all the time, although there are many times she comes crying to me because her big sister does not want to play with her. Nathan and her don't usually get along, probably because the big brother likes to be a pest to his little sister. Any time that they do get along, Jenna is quick to point it out to me. Jenna has a very funny imagination and comes up with some hilarious and strange thoughts and ideas. I really should write them down!
One day when I had put some Christmas music on, Jenna declared "this sounds like Steve Green".
"That's because it is Steve Green," I replied.
"Well he is the best singer in the world!" was her response.
A couple days later I put on a different Christmas CD. Jenna stared at the CD player for a moment before blurting out, "who is this, Steve Green's wife or something?"
It was Amy Grant :P
